Speeding Along The construction on Highway 129 by Crittendon Underpass is moving along on schedule and should be finished in January, barring early rains, according to project manager Katie Beach, with Caltrans.
Â
Construction crews have moved about 50,000 yards of dirt and have another 50,000 to go to widen the roadway into the hillside and make it less dangerous. Traffic signals let one lane through at a time every day.
Â
The hillside is coming down 80 to 100 feet to clear a path for vehicles. The road can’t be widened more because it heads under a train tunnel which can’t be widened.
