Hazel Hawkins Hospital.
Hilario J. “Moe” Angulo, 72 of Hollister, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital.
Hilario was born in San Juan Bautista and resided in San Benito County his entire life. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He belonged to the Old Mission San Juan Bautista, Leslie L. Garrett Post 6359 VFW of San Juan Bautista; BPOE 1436 of Hollister and Hollister Post 9242, VFW. He worked for Ideal Cement Plant in San Juan for 20 years and then Keystone Seed Company in Hollister for 10 years. He was one of the more “historic bartenders” in Hollister and San Juan Bautista for many years, filling in where needed if help was needed at the Acme Club, Smoke House, Brand Club, all in Hollister which are gone now; Johny’s Bar and San Benito Hotel, which are still here; Daisy’s and Mom and Pops in San Juan; and was always willing to help at the VFW or Elks Lodge.
Hilario is survived by his wife Susie Angulo of Hollister; children Diane Capps (Darryle) of Manteca, Patricia Bautista (Phillip) of Gilroy; Charlotte Valadez (Frank) of Gilroy; Albert Angulo (Tiffany) of Hollister; and Isabel Ybarra of Hollister. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His brother Joe Angulo and sister Reyna Navarrez preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held at the chapel of Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 3 from noon until 8:30 p.m. Recitation of the rosary will be Sunday evening at 7 p.m., followed by Memorial Services provided by Hollister Elks Lodge #1436 at 7:15 at the funeral home.
Family and friends will leave the mortuary chapel on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. to go to Old Mission San Juan Bautista for a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Veteran Section of the San Juan District Cemetery. Donation are preferred to Hazel Hawkins Northside Convalescent Hospital Restoration Fund c/o the mortuary chapel.
