GILROY – Lovers of history and architecture will have a rare opportunity to meet at the Rebekah Children’s Home, 290 IOOF Ave., this Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Gilroy Historical Society is holding its quarterly meeting at the 105-year-old children’s home and welcomes interested visitors. The meeting will be held in the museum room and feature Ray and Catherine Burgess, who grew up at the home, talking about its history and relationship to the greater Gilroy community. Roberta Hughan, former mayor and architect, will discuss the architecture of the Mediterranean Revival building, designed by the famous William Weeks. Eleanor Villarreal will conclude the program by telling about the home today and giving a tour of the 1921 building.
