2005 surrounded by love from her children and grandchildren.
Ida Mae Slay died peacefully in Gilroy on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 surrounded by love from her children and grandchildren.

She was born Oct. 21, 1922 in Cordell, Okla. Her college education at Harding College was interrupted by her desire to support the WW II effort by welding on Kaiser Victory Ships in Richmond.

In addition to her immense love for her family and old time hymns, she was an avid organic gardener and outstanding cook.

She was a long standing member of the Santa Cruz Grey Bears.

She is survived by her children, Milbren Glen Slay, Jr. of La Selva Beach, Darlene Hall and Kathryn Raney of Santa Cruz, Kenneth Slay of Aromas, Carol Moreland of Gilroy, Barbara Salisbury of Georgetown, Texas and Deborah Carr of Newman; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 11am Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Gilroy Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
