Dear Editor,
What will it cost taxpayers to subsidize bullet train’s annual
operating losses? Nobody has reported that yet.
The High Speed Rail Authority had estimated its own annual
operating loss at $900 million, which was probably 50 percent too
low based on historical deviations for transit planners, e.g.,
BART.

All small businesses will be assessed through taxes and fees imposts to pay the shortfall on HSRA’s “farebox recovery.”
It would be cheaper for taxpayers if we sent them via Concorde Supersonic aircraft. Taxis and limos would also be cheaper. HSRA’s deficit will make Lite Rail’s, Caltrain’s and Amtrak’s combined deficits modest in comparison. Nobody is reporting these facts. Why?
HSRA’s annual operating loss became a “profit” when Rod Diridon became executive director. Does he also walk on water? Nobody is reporting this. Why?
