Jason-Stephens Winery opened its tasting room doors in October 2008. Since then the winery has helped revitalize the image of the once prominent wine growing region of the Santa Clara Valley. With many awards for wine quality and flavor, great events, a picture perfect vineyard and a relaxing creekside setting it’s no wonder Jason-Stephens is a local favorite.
Stephen planted the 45-acre vineyard on the 75-plus-acre property in 1986 when he purchased it as an orchard. Initially Steve planted five varietals and in 2007 we grafted some of the south block Cabernet Sauvignon over to Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Malbec, and Mourvedre to be used for blending and as standalone varietal specific wines. Jason started construction on the winery in 2007 as a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot temperature-controlled facility with a modest tasting room.
Jason’s focus as winemaker was on the best winemaking equipment which includes automated crush-pad equipment, temperature-controlled tanks, and an automated fermentation management system to ensure the best handling of the fruit possible to make the best wines possible.
