The Kemetic Institute and Cultural Center presents the Gilroy Juneteenth Festival featuring Sheppard, a renowned New Orleans sax and flute jazz artist.

Sheppard will perform Thursday, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Friday, from noon to 9 p.m. at the Kemetic Institute, 7469 Forest and Sixth streets. The building i sa beautiful 1913 American Bungalow – the Shields House – a historical landmark.

The Kemetic Institute and Cultural Center is a non-profit community organization sponsored by the River Nile Corporation, a nonprofit public benefit corporation. KICC is a multicultural, educational, historical research and enhanced literacy learning center for youths and adults. It is a place where “all” can come to learn and have a better understanding of the common destiny of all people. The institute provides a place where one can link with their commonly shared past, history, learn critical thinking and problem-solving skills, computer skills and tutoring to enable the youth to be productive and informed citizens of the world.

The KICC is situated at the Shields House. The house and grounds are an ideal setting for memorable events, meetings, workshops, seminars, lectures, day retreats, fundraisers, exhibits, tours, bar-b-ques, weddings, anniversaries, christenings, quinceneras, teas, birthdays and traditional cultural celebrations.

Seating is limited, and refreshments are provided. A $5 donation is suggested. RSVP to Octavia Butler at 848-1225.
