Albuquerque, N.M. – In a tightly-contested bout, Kelsey Jeffries retained her International Female Boxers Association featherweight title Thursday with a split decision victory over Rhonda Luna at the Isleta Casino and Resort.

After the back-and-forth battle, one judge scored the bout 97-93 in favor of Jeffries with the second judge scoring it 96-94 to Luna.

Jeffries showed a disappointed look on her face as the final score was being read, before hearing that it was scored 96-94 in favor of the South Valley boxer.

The win was Jeffries’ (37-9-1) sixth defense of the IFBA crown and gives Luna (12-1-1), who was the crowd favorite, her first career loss.
