Jasmine Yanez, a junior this coming fall at Gilroy High, capped
off the best female wrestling season in school history by being
asked to not only the represent her hometown but also the U.S.A. on
the Jr. Worlds Wrestling team next month in Nicaragua.
GILROY – Jasmine Yanez, a junior this coming fall at Gilroy High, capped off the best female wrestling season in school history by being asked to not only the represent her hometown but also the U.S.A. on the Jr. Worlds Wrestling team next month in Nicaragua.
Yanez’s season included placing 8th at Mid Cals, qualifying for the Central Coast Section championship meet and winning a match to help GHS accumulate enough points to win its seventh straight CCS title. Yanez also took second in the Northern California Folkstyle State Championships, and she earned two All-American awards by placing third at the Folkstyle Nationals and Freestyle Nationals, respectively.
