Juan “John” Segovia died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 at home in Gilroy. He was 53.
Mr. Segovia was born, raised and attended school in Corpus Christi, Texas, before moving to the Gilroy area 30 years ago.
He has been a resident ever since.
Mr. Segovia worked the graveyard shift at the 7-Eleven store on the corner of First Street and Wayland Lane for the past 15 years.
He also was actively involved in Gilroy Parks & Recreation softball and Little League for many years. The team he managed – “Craig Avila Bail Bonds, Tomcats” – recently won the Men’s B League title.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Antonia Zapata of Gilroy.
He is the father of Johnny “Jay” Segovia and his wife Jeannette of Gilroy, Mark Segovia and his wife Priscilla of Texas, Michael Segovia and his wife Veronica of Gilroy and Emily Serrano of Gilroy; the grandfather of Kayla Guajardo, Jonise, Celeste, Johnny, Johnny Jr., Julian, Michelle, Mikayla and Angel Jr.; the brother of Guadalupe Segovia and his wife Sylvia, and Connie Ramirez and her husband Eddie; his In-laws the Guerrero family, Bustinza family, Lopez family and Suniga family all of the Gilroy area; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services were held Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 at the Victory Outreach Church on the corner of Hanna and 6th streets.
