Kerrick Cleveland Securda

Beloved husband of Linda Harvey Securda, died with her at his side at Stanford University Hospital.

He was born in Reading, Penn. And was the only son of Mishal A. and Marjorie (Cleveland) Securda. He graduated from Wilson High School and was a 1962 graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian linguistics. He earned a Master in Business Administration with distinction and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Stanford University concurrently in 1972.

He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service as an Air Intelligence officer, Headquarter Seventh Air Force, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam.

He was Vice President and Director in line-marketing and sales leadership positions in plastics, lasers, electro-optics and medical device industries. He also had a background in management consulting in corporate strategy development and the transformation of organizations using enterprise customer management. Most recently Kerrick was instrumental in successfully launching a high power green-light laser for urology that transformed the industry.

He was active in community organizations where he lived and served on the National Board of Directors of the Medical Marketing Association.

He loved languages and was multi-lingual in German, French and Russian and loved to travel. Hawaii and Carmel were among his favorite destinations. He enjoyed his homes and garden and music, especially piano.

He married Linda Harvey at Loring Air Force Base, Maine on December 19, 1964. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Michelin (Claxton) Hurst, sister-in-law Joan Stafford, Corinne McCoy, Sandra Harvey, Diane (Federico) Gildemeister, as well as many nieces, nephews and a wide network of friends.

He was a man of integrity, intelligence and kindness. Kerrick was courageous and optimistic in fighting pulmonary fibrosis.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday August 23, 2008, 1:00 P.M. at the Securda’s San Martin Home. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that contributions be made in his memory to the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, Suite F, #227, 1659 Branham Lane, San Jose, CA, 95118-5226.
