A stifling defense held visiting Pacific Grove scoreless at the break en route to an 11-3 Christopher High lacrosse victory Tuesday afternoon in Gilroy.

“We’ve been working really hard on defense,” head coach Tim Pirozzoli said. “The kids like to be physical, but it’s more about being in the right spot so you don’t have to over play. They did a good job today.”

Coupled with the position-proper defense, the Cougars offense was also on point as seven different players registered at least one goal. Nick Gulan led the way with a hat trick, Patrick Mank and Manny Avila had two goals each, and Brandon Cleder, DJ Campos, Jeremy Botill and Maxx Agustin posted one apiece.

“It was nice that (the goals) were spread around,” Pirozzoli said. “They controlled the ball. The more you control the ball, the more you control the game.”

The Cougars, who improve to 8-4 on the season, led 3-0 after one quarter, 6-0 at the half and 7-2 heading into the fourth and final period.
