Seniors Danell Dow and Lauryn Rossi both had career-highs

SALINAS – Seniors Danell Dow and Lauryn Rossi both had career-highs Thursday in the Lady Mustang water polo team’s 14-2 thrashing of Notre Dame-Salinas.

Dow netted a single-game high of eight goals, while Rossi set her personal best with four goals.

In the first quarter, Dow got started early with a natural hat trick on feeds from teammates Diana Wallace and Rossi. Staying hot in the pool, Wallace and Rossi then scored on assists from Dow and goalie Laura Rink to take a 5-0 lead. By halftime, the Mustangs were up 7-0 as Dow and Rossi scored again.

In the third quarter, Dow and Rossi both scored three goals each. With a 13-1 lead, Coach Mark Rose emptied his bench. Lindsey Beckle scored her first goal as a varsity player.

While Rink had 10 saves in net, teammate Roseanna Rosso registered a team-high six steals.
