GILROY – Team HJ-FX rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Ellite Barbers & Hair Stylist 10-9 in the Men’s D League opener Friday at Las Animas Park.
Skip Bloom began a string of five hits in the Team HJ-FX seventh with a one-out triple. Gilbert Ramirez and Mike Kachel lined singles, Tom Alexander hit a two-run double and Jim Blean followed with an RBI-triple. An infield error and grounder pushed Blean across with the winning run.
Ramirez went 4-for-4 and Brett Faust provided a double and two singles for the winners. Brian Pelaiz dominated the Ellite Barber offense with a home run, double and two singles.
Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy-Humboldt Brewing erupted for four runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 15-14 nod over Family Affair in Gilroy Community Services Department adult softball action.
Dave Keim Jr. ignited the Fritter-Humboldt comeback with a two-run homer. Five consecutive singles, capped by George Delgado’s liner to center, completed the rally.
Keim netted six RBI while hitting for the cycle. Manuel Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh as Family Affair struck for five runs and a 14-11 lead.
Josh Newton went 4-for-4 and John Serrine drove in three runs as Dequin’s Auto Body defeated Trevino Brothers Construction 18-2. Dan Gavrity went 3-for-3 for the Builders.
Eric Jimenez went 3-for-3 to spark D. A. Wolfe Cnstruction to a 7-4 victory over Dee’z Nutz in Men’s C play Friday at Christmas Hill Park. Ed Gamboa turned two doubles into three RBI for Dee’z.
Kenny Hopf homered and Cameron Bautista added three extra-base hits in a 15-10 Good Fellas win over Punishment Inc. Joey Barnes notched a home run and two singles for Punishment Inc.
Mark Vodanovich supplied a triple and two singles to lift Obata Farms by the VFW Vets 13-7. Chris Adame went 2-for-3 and scored two VFW Vets runs.
The Hustlers plated three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 13-10 decision over the Slammers in Men’s DD League action Friday at Gavilan Sports Park.
Robert Vasquez finished a three-hit, four-RBI night with a two-run single in the Hustler seventh. Sammy Lopez homered in a 4-for-6 night, while Paulo Borba went 4-for-5 for the winners. Joe Duran singled and tripled, Marciel Urenda scored three runs for the Slammers.
Ryan Bell went 3-for-3 and scored twice to help the Bomb Squad past the Martini’s. Stephen JOnes singled and doubled for the Martini’s.
Cosa Nostra scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to trim Los Chilotes 18-10. Daniel Garcia went 4-for-5 for Cosa Nostra. Benito Landeros went 3-for-4 and Clint Minor scored four runs for Los Chilotes.
