Hollister – Some of you might have been wondering what that big cloud of smoke coming from the direction of East St. and 7th in Hollister at about 3pm on Friday was all about.
No, it wasn’t a car fire induced by an engine with no oil in it. It was the awesome finale to Jason “Bling Bling” Pullen’s True Harley Stunt Racing show.
Yes, Pullen has developed some very interesting methods of abusing a motorcycle. From shredding tires to jackrabbit starts followed by hard braking and more smoke from the tires, Pullen can make his bike do some wild things.
“I was racing on and on, some cars, some bikes,” said Pullen, who will be performing his True Harley Stunt Riding show today and tomorrow at 10:30am and again at 3pm.
“And then I went to a race in Sacramento and they had a freestyle motorcycle competition going on. It was all import bikes and I was out there on my Harley. They were blown away. I was just playing around though.”
The tricks Pullen performs on his bike are typically seen in the sport-bike world, where the motorcycles used are more suited to trick riding, making Pullen a rare breed as there are only a handful of riders on the West Coast who dare to stunt-ride a Harley.
Pullen’s bag of tricks atop his Harley is endless. Donuts, drifting, both feet on the right peg, both feet on the left peg, side stands and the high chair, a stunt that requires Pullen to maintain a wheelie while sitting on the bike’s
gas tank.
All will be on display this weekend for the 58th Annual Hollister Independence Rally and Pullen is more than happy to be here putting on his show for such an enthusiastic crowd.
“(The adrenaline) comes and goes but a crowd like this gets me pumped up,” Pullen said. “Sometimes the crowd’s kind of quiet but, once I start raising my hands as I ride by, they get pumped up. I just thank my sponsors like Motion Pro, Motor-X Oil and my mechanic John Ippolito.”
