Dear Editor,
This is in response to the column in Wednesdays paper about “the city is looking into the banning of human signs.”
Please tell me our city council has more to do than to worry about a few human signs. They stand on a corner, make no obnoxious noise (as care radios do), and when they leave the area, they leave it clean. They leave no mess; unlike the “yard sale” signs, election signs and the ads for various other events, some even in other towns.
These kind of signs hang on posts until they rot and then fall and blow around our town.
Here is a REAL problem the city might look in to, if they have any extra time. Driving west from the outlets on Leavesley, I saw eight – that’s right eight – red-light runners before I reached Monterey Road. That is less than a mile. One of the drivers went through three of the lights. He was driving a dark Rodeo with no back license plate and only one brake light. He was a real gem to watch! That is a really bad problem we have in Gilroy. I can stand the human signs, they are not dangerous but the red light runners are getting to be a real menace!
