A major report by University of California, Berkeley scientists indicates that we are headed towards mass extinction that is primarily man-made newscenter.berkeley.edu/2011/03/ 02/has-the-sixth-mass-extinction-already-arrived/. Please tell me why the city of Morgan Hill needs to annex 1,300 acres of prime agricultural land in South County for development?
It doesn’t. There is enough vacant land within the city limits to meet future needs for decades. However a select group of landowners have overly influenced the council to consider this irresponsible act.
It violates the city’s General Plan, the adopted principles of smart growth, and promotes global warming. It will not reduce our carbon footprint or meet SB32 obligations. The support of this development under the guise of preservation is disingenuous and is likened to former President George Bush’s Health Forest Initiative where development, not protection was the desired outcome. This must stop.
