Your editorial (“Creating a culture of e-bike safety,” July 24) does little good since the Gilroy Police Department does NOTHING about enforcing the laws regarding riding on the sidewalks, riding the wrong way and following the state vehicle code!
Why don’t you suggest that the Police Department, which I believe has two community officers, go around to ALL our schools during the first couple weeks of the new term and talk to all the classes!
You should know that there have already been a couple of accidents involving e-bikes in the Bay Area. And as someone commented, what will it take, a DEATH, for our government and police to start enforcing the law?
When I was growing up on the San Francisco Peninsula there were no sidewalks except in your downtown areas, and you’d better not ride your bicycle on the sidewalk!
