More smiles, interaction from staff needed at Gilroy Gardens

Dear Editor,

Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park used to be Bonfante Gardens where the employees would smile and enjoy what they were doing.

Now, for some reason, the Gilroy Gardens staff won’t smile and some won’t even say hello.

Recently I went there; we were in line waiting for them to open the gates to let us into the park. I noticed that the people were talking to each other but not to the visitors that were standing there.

The National Anthem started playing; everyone became aware of it, even the 4 year olds, except a security guard there. She was messing with her hair and acting as if she could care less about what she was doing.

As we are walking through the park and going on the rides I noticed that only two employees smiled the whole time we were there.

I also noticed that only the younger kids were having fun, the adults didn’t look like they were having fun.

The thing that would make the park a little nicer is if the staff could just smile at their visitors. Or they at least could say hello to us.

What in the recycling world is going on with SV Disposal trucks?

Dear Editor,

I’m a dedicated recycler, so I was surprised and dismayed this morning to see the South Valley garbage truck put my garbage and recycling in the same bin on the truck.

My neighbor’s garbage was handled the same way. I’ve always been a little skeptical of the “one stream” concept.

How do they sort the stuff? An assembly line with one guy for paper, one for aluminum, etc.?

Now I’m even more skeptical because I suspect one possibility is that they don’t sort it at all.

A possible upside is that if I run out of space in my garbage can, I suppose I can just put the excess in the recycling can.
