Dear Editor,

President Obama has challenged Congress to pass real health care reform in 2009 that upholds three basic principles:

n Reduce costs by improving efficiency and investing in preventative care.

– Guarantee every American the right to choose their plan and doctor – including a public insurance option.

– Ensure quality, affordable care for every American.

Congress must past real health care reform in 2009.

I have worked at several companies over the past 15 years that did not offer medical insurance and when I needed an operation, I had to use Medi-Cal. I have worked hard and paid my taxes and participated in our government. I appreciate President Obama’s desire that I will be given a choice to have health insurance that I can afford.

It’s a deeper problem than just not being able to find Gilroy

Dear Editor,

If the Chamber of Commerce and the Visitors Bureau are interested in bringing people to Gilroy and making it easier for them to find their way around, these beautiful signs will not entirely accomplish that. One of the best ways to get people interested in Gilroy, or any city, is word of mouth from those who have experienced the city. The people who live here need to tell others that this is a great destination. However, it is difficult for me to tell my friends, who live outside Gilroy, that this is a great destination. That is because of the problems that persist in Gilroy.

How can we proudly say, “Come visit Gilroy,” when the children in this community are not safe walking home from school? How can we proudly say, “Gilroy is a great place to live,” when gang activity continues to show its presence inside the schools and in the streets. How can we proudly show our friends the town of Gilroy while so many businesses have gone under and people are suffering from joblessness and homelessness?

It doesn’t matter how much money you spend to make Gilroy beautiful on the outside. If Gilroy is unsafe and depressed, people will shy away.

Obama’s lying on healthcare reform – it’s even better than he says

Dear Editor,

President Obama says, “If you like your health care plan you can keep it.” This statement is not true. When health care reform passes you will no longer be able to buy the kind of health insurance you have now. For example, if the plan you have now excludes coverage for preexisting conditions, that will go away. If they have a cap on what they will pay out if you are really sick, that will go away. If they want to drop you when you are sick or raise your rates so you can’t afford it, that will go away as well. You will no longer be denied life saving procedures by insurance company death panels like you have now.

So when Obama says that you can keep your health plan, don’t believe him. He’s lying to you. He’s going to force you to get a better plan for less money whether you like it or not.

Is Obama’s war a good war?

Dear Editor,

In regards to the ongoing war against global terrorism, I’ve been patiently waiting and observing the media’s actions and reporting and I find myself to be very much convinced that there is definitely a double-standard when it comes to this war.

So long as Bush was the president, every day you would hear something about the war. How bad it was and how many of our troops were dying because of this unpopular war.

So, how about now? Is Obama’s war a good war? Where’s the outrage about us being in Afghanistan and still in Iraq? What happened to Obama’s promises to bring an end to this unpopular war and bring the troops home right away? Also, are the women wearing black outfits in front of St. Mary’s Church still protesting against this war every Friday night or are they okay with it because it is now their messiah’s war?

You know, Michelle Obama may be proud of being an American for the first time in her life but for me I am ashamed of seeing our beloved country in the hands of a liar, Marxist and an anti-American socialist liberal who has no respect for our military – especially those who are fighting the global war on terrorism now.

As for Afghanistan, face it, Russians backed out because it could not be won. Unless you are willing to drop a few nuclear bombs on the entire region and call it a day. I’m not suggesting this as a solution but to just point out that it has been tried before and it cannot be won.

With that said, my point is back to the liberal voters and media. So do you like what your messiah is delivering? Is this the hope and change you voted for? And finally, is he or is he not an American-born citizen? Why do people have to file a case with U.S. Supreme Court just to see Obama’s birth certificate?

May God bless and protect our troops and save this country out of the hands of the socialist anti-American Obamanists.

David Kaeini, Gilroy

Editor’s note: Obama released a copy of his birth certificate to the public in June 2008 and on Oct. 31, 2008, the director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed that Obama was born in Honolulu. To see a copy of the birth certificate, visit www.factcheck.org.
