Republicans Received Exactly What They Deserved in the Election
Dear Editor,
Now that the dust of the last election is settled, one can get a better picture of the status quo. As a conservative Republican, I view the election results with mixed emotions. The only bright and pleasing part of the picture is that we had a political revolution – a political coup – without violence. One party replaces the other and not a shot was fired. This is a good example for the rest of the world’s governments.
The Republican party got just what they deserved. Their loss was poetic justice. The Republicans, posing as champions of the individual were, in action, just the opposite.
When immigration became invasion, Congress did nothing but talk. They promised a border fence and then did nothing.
Though a majority of our voting citizenship are pro-life – that is, against abortion – Congress skirted the issue so as to not offend pro-choice voters. Basically, Congress was amoral.
We have Supreme Court justices that cannot read English. The Constitution, in the First Amendment, states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
When Justice Roy Moore, the Supreme Court justice of the state of Alabama, placed a granite reproduction of the Ten Commandments on the courthouse lawn, he was ordered by his Supreme Court justices to remove it under “the constitutional separation of church and state.” He refused. Judge Roy Moore cited the First Amendment allowing him free exercise of his religious rights under the Constitution. He was defrocked and his income withheld.
Gov. George Wallace of Alabama, in 1964 said “There is not a dime’s worth of difference between Republicans and Democrats.” He was just way ahead of his time I suspect, but it will take a year or so for us to confirm.
Meanwhile, cross your fingers and pray!

Gavilan Trustee Thanks the Voters for the Opportunity
Dear Editor,
I want to thank all my supporters for re-electing me to the board of trustees of Gavilan College.
Over the years, I have worked with the other board members to make Gavilan College a great learning institution in the vocational and the academic fields. We have a balanced budget with a strong reserve. We have staff with high morale. We have a strong board dedicated to bringing two new campuses to our communities in Hollister and Morgan Hill.
We have an exciting future ahead of us. Working together, we will provide our students the necessary tools for learning and achieving success. Again, thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve you.
Elvira Robinson, Hollister
If You Don’t Like Gilroy, Then Go Somewhere Else …
Dear Editor,
Reading a recent paper, I see the trash talking of columnist Cynthia Walker. When are you guys going to get rid of her remarks of just get tired of her Gilroy bashing? Or both?
First it was the library, then the schools, then it was me, now it’s the police station, give me a break! Is there anybody, or anything this woman won’t smear, bash or degrade? If you don’t like Gilroy Cynthia, then go somewhere else, or better yet “Dispatch”, get rid of her.
Daniel Garcia, Gilroy
