Pedestrians Need to Be Ticketed for Jaywalking near GHS

Dear Editor,

Your article “Police Crack Down on Speeders” on Nov. 2 was very good to read. It is extremely important that people, especially people my age (17), follow safe driving rules. The killings in Gilroy these past months have been unacceptable, and I’m sure drivers are being more cautious.

There are a couple of things I worry about, though.

One, have you been down to Gilroy High School to experience how irresponsible the pedestrians are? Some are practically asking to be killed, as they walk through an intersection when the orange hand is up and the light is green. Where are the police then? Shouldn’t they be there when the pedestrians are breaking the law, also?

Two, as I was driving home from school recently I noticed there was a police officer in the lane next to mine and behind the car next to me.

The car next to me had been speeding, so I figured the police officer would do something about it since the rules are supposed to be more strict.

What do you think he did? While the car next to me sped up, so did the officer. Then he cut over in front of me, and sped off. Way to protect our town.

I am not upset at all about the article that was printed. However, if the police are truly trying to make a safer community, they ought to take the log out of their own eye and realize that they should be the first to set an example.

‘Same, Old Tired Propaganda’ from Teachers Union

Dear Editor,

Dale Morejon, the local teachers’ union hack for K-12 schools and self-proclaimed spokesman for “all of Gilroy” (Oct. 14) parrots the same old, tired propaganda and lies, now claiming that I love the presence of a union.

At least, for the first time in recorded history, Morejon did not quote some irrelevant (fabricated) “study”; he has apparently given up on the math-score lies.

Hopefully we will make California a right-to-work state so no one is forced to pay to have charlatans like Morejon pretend to “represent” them.

U.S. Turns the Corner Toward Socialism Led by Left-Wing Bush

Dear Editor,

I wish I could have a loud voice that reached all the way to Washington D.C. and to say “Would the real conservative president that we voted for twice please stand up?”

Please Mr. Bush take the mask off. You deceived all of us social, fiscal and moral conservatives. Congratulations to you and all of your far left-wing Democrats and Republicans for winning this mid-term election and thank you so very much for not only helping to bring the Pandora box of immorality to this nation, but also for cracking it wide open.

And to the people of California, congratulations are in order as well – to Arnold and the rest of his liberal Democrats and Republicans for confusing every voter who cared to show up (43.8 percent).

Add up the ballot propositions that passed approving more money to be spent – Prop 1B – $19.9 billion, 1C – $2.8 billion, 1D – $10.4 billion, etc. This is in addition to the $10 billion that Arnie already borrowed from the New York banks to pay off the debt left by Gray Davis.

What does this tell you and I? We are headed for a socialist government. For those of you who think this is not such a bad idea, please educate yourselves with other socialist countries around the world and ask yourself if that is truly what you want.
