After faltering in their opening game of the state tournament, the Gilroy Little League Minors softball All-Stars have their backs against the wall.

Working their way through the elimination bracket, the All-Stars, took one step away from that wall Tuesday, with a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Redwood Empire.

Down 2-0, Gilroy scored one in the third in a workman-like manner. Kalena Parades singled and advanced to second on a Jamie Lam bunt. Parades stole third and came home on a Mia Garnica RBI base hit, one of her two hits in the game.

With outs dwindling, Gilroy made some noise in the fifth, manufacturing the tying run with the combination of a Garnica hit, Victoria Pacheco bunt and a Brianna Budelli RBI. The All-Stars weren’t done with the fifth, taking a 3-2 lead and holding on for the win.

Starting pitcher, Gianna Vanni had 10 strikeouts to just two walks

Gilroy is in action once again tonight against Auburn.
