For the second straight game, the Gilroy Little League Minors All-Stars had the right mix of offense and defense, defeating the Spartan All-Stars 12-0 on Monday night.
The rousing victory moves Gilroy into the District 59 championship game.
“These girls are playing well and we are working hard as a coaching staff to teach them what it takes to play together and be a team,” manager Susan Shapiro said.
Abby Clark and Gianna Vanni combined for nine strikeouts and received help from their defense en route to the shutout. AnaIsabel Perez patrolled right field, making a stop to prevent a big inning while Natalie Urenda and Erika Cates anchored the right side of the infield with key stops.
Clark started a rally with a double, and Kalena Paredes, Victoria Pacheco and Perez also contributed to the offense.
The championship game is slated for July 5 at Dove Hill Park in San Jose. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
