KIRKLAND, Wash. – Gilroy Junior All-Stars suffer difficult 1-0
defeat in semifinals.
KIRKLAND, Wash. – During its weeklong run at the Little League World Series, the Gilroy Junior All-Stars lost two games by a combined two runs. Unfortunately one of those losses came in the semifinals Friday night in Kirkland, Wash.

The group of 13 and 14 year olds known as the Garlic Girls, narrowly knocked off defending champ Latin America (Puerto Rico), but ended up on wrong side of a 1-0 tilt, missing out on a spot in the championship game.

However, the girls have one last game to play in the Emerald state as they take on the East squad from Pennsylvania in the Consolation final Saturday at 11 a.m. That game will not air on ESPN 2.

The championship will feature Latin America and the Southeast team from Tampa, who beat Pennsylvania in the night’s other semifinal. The championship, which had been slated for 6 p.m. can be seen on ESPN 2 at 2 p.m.

A full story including reaction from the players and manager will run in Tuesday’s Dispatch.
