MORGAN HILL – Macey Dunne and Megan Rauschnot scored on two superb passes by Alissa Pham and Shannon Rauschnot, and Live Oak beat Gilroy 2-0 Tuesday in the undefeated Acorns’ first real nonleague test this year.

Pham, who was coming off a three-goal effort Saturday against Milpitas, set up Dunne’s header in the 21st minute with a cross sent toward the far post. Dunne got under it in full stride for the finish, ending a scoreless back-and-forth opening 20 minutes at Live Oak High School.

Megan Rauschnot tallied her third goal of the season in the 57th minute, following Shannon Rauschnot’s pass that was deflected by a defender into the open field about 20 yards in front of the Gilroy net. Megan Rauschnot played the ball to the top of the penalty area before slotting it into the left corner.

It was the third time this year the Rauschnot sisters connected for a score.

Live Oak (3-0), which won its previous two games by a combined margin of 9-2, created several more scoring opportunities in the second half, but the 2010-11 Central Coast Section Division III runners-up could not finish.

Gilroy (2-3-1), a team of only two seniors to 13 underclassmen, made it interesting in the first half, posting five shots to the Acorns’ seven. Cynthia Sanchez had the Mustangs’ best chance in the 20th minute on a 30-yard direct kick that goalkeeper Macey Linder tried to bat out of bounds. Instead the ball bounced off the crossbar right back to her.

It was one of six saves for Linder, who earned her first varsity shutout.

It was Live Oak’s first win over its old rival since 2007.
