Coming to the stage, ‘Li’l Abner’
Gilroy – The Odyssey Theater Co. of Gilroy High School will stage its first performance of the musical Li’l Abner today at 8pm. The group will perform at 8pm on the following dates: Friday, Saturday, Aug. 25, 26 and Sept. 8 and 9; and Aug. 20 and Aug. 27 at 4pm.
The musical will be performed in the Gilroy High School theater. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students/seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 333-9065.

Car Show
San Martin – SMNA is having their 4th annual ‘Happy Days Car Show from 11am to 5pm Saturday at the San Martin Country Park, 13865 Monterey Road. Free parking, food, popcorn and ice cream, raffle/silent auction items, petting zoo, vendors and music of the JJ Hawg and the Usual Suspects. There is a $5 admission.
Car registration fee is $35.
Special orientation for Gav students
Gilroy – Students who are new to Gavilan College, and their parents are invited to attend a one-day only Student-Parent Orientation Day. Students will be able to take their Placement/Assessment Tests and attend a New Student Orientation. Students will receive their test scores the same day, and receive initial advising on course selection. Parents are invited to attend a session on “What to Expect and How to Support Your Gavilan College Student.” Lunch will be provided. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Event held Saturday, at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.

Democratic Club fundraiser
Morgan Hill – Join the South Valley Democratic Club for their annual fundraiser Sunday, from 11am to 3pm, at Woodland Estates Clubhouse, 850 West Middle Ave. Barbecue chicken, ribs, hot dogs and veggie burgers. Enjoy billiards, bocce ball, horseshoes, play area and creekside walk.

Waterfalls and wildlife hike
Morgan Hill – Explore canyon waterfalls and wildlife on this 2-mile hike with a ranger at Uvas Canyon County Park Sunday, from 10am to noon. Bring sturdy hiking shoes, sun protection, water. Meet at the day-use parking lot. There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle.
