Get ready to revel this New Year’s Eve
Tickets are now available for the a worthwhile and awesome New Year’s Eve Gala. Gilroy Relay for Life 2008 is putting on a New Year’s Eve Party to support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life to be held at Christmas Hill Park June 7th and 8th, 2008.
There will be fine dining, gourmet desserts, dancing to live music upstairs, DJ Mike downstairs, midnight champagne toast, blind box raffle, and two full bars. This is a formal cocktail attire event, so dress up and step out for a good cause all right here at the Old City Hall, corner of Sixth and Monterey streets.
Party packages for the full evening including dinner are $75 each. After 10 p.m., including gourmet desserts, dancing and champagne tickets are $50 each.

Check out the holiday lights at Gilroy Gardens
Visit Gilroy Gardens Holiday Lights display Friday to Sunday through Dec. 23 and daily Dec. 26 to 30, from 4 to 9 p.m. The park is lit with millions of lights and certain areas of the park have been enhanced with special light displays.

‘Footloose’ dances onto Mount Madonna’s Stage
Mount Madonna School students will put on a production of ‘Footloose.’
The show will be held at 7:30 p.m. today and at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Madonna School, 491 Summit Road, Watsonville. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for students 16 and younger.

Have breakfast with Santa
Children between 3 and 12 are invited to spend the morning with Santa Saturday, at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St. The fee is $12 ($14 for non-residents) to have breakfast, make crafts and take photos with Santa. Seating times: are 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Songs of celebration
“Christmas Advent at St. Stephen’s” celebration continues at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church 7 p.m. today.
The evening will begin with a hand-bell concert by Michael Barnes and Ginny Scott, and will be followed by guitar instrumentals and group-singing of favorite Christmas carols. Refreshments follow the program at St. Stephen’s chapel, located at 651 Broadway, Gilroy. Free admission.

Make a wish come true
The South Santa Clara County Fire District, Paid Call Firefighters have donation trees set up in many local banks and businesses for the 21st annual Make a Wish Come True, Make A Child Smile gift program. More than 2,200 gifts were collected for local children last year. Visit one of the 22 locations by Dec. 21 and donate a gift for a local needy child.

‘Swing Shift’ hits the stage
The City of Gilroy Community Services Department presents Bisceglie’s “Swing Shift.” This 1940s all singing, all swinging musical revue, features more than 95 local youth and adults. Nine public performances, opens Jan. 11 and closes Jan. 27: Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Performances will be held in the Gavilan College Theatre. All tickets are $12. Reserved seating. Reservations recommended.

Practice for the SAT
Free practice for SAT at the Gilroy Library. Princeton Review will provide a free practice test and strategy session for high school students at the Gilroy Library, 7387 Rosanna St. Call or come in to sign up; space is limited. Test is Saturday, Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the results are given at the strategy session on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
