Rebekah’s earns accreditation

Gilroy – Rebekah Children’s Services has been accredited by the Council on Accreditation, according to Cora Jones, board president.

The accreditation attests that an organization meets the highest national standards and is delivering the best quality services to the community it serves.

The process involves an in-depth examination of the organization’s compliance with best practice standards. The process includes a review of organizational standards including human resources, financial and risk management and continuous quality improvement, as well as 39 service standards.

Rebekah’s has as annual budget of $12.3 million and a staff of 164.

Get free practice before taking the SAT

Gilroy – Princeton Review will provide free practice testing and a strategy session for high school students at the Gilroy Library, 7387 Rosanna St. Students must sign up at the library by Jan. 20. Test is 10am to 2pm Feb. 3 and results and strategy session is 10am to 2pm Feb. 10.

Garlic Festival accepting 2007 art poster entries

Gilroy – The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association, Inc. is accepting entries for the 2007 Art Poster Contest.

A $750 first prize will go to the best that captures the spirit and essence of this premier food festival. In addition, the first place winner will receive 10 posters and one of each souvenir item produced with their artwork. The second place winner will receive $400 and third place $200. The deadline is 5pm, March 1, and winners will be notified by March 30. Experience the classic sounds of ‘Soul Terrain’

Gilroy – The City of Gilroy Community Services Department presents Bisceglie’s “Soul Terrain.”

Experience the sounds of Motown, disco and soul in this all-singing, all-dancing revue, featuring 75 local kids.

Performances are Jan. 12 through 28, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm; Sundays at 1 and 5pm, at the GHS Theater. Tickets are $12, reserved seating and reservations are recommended.
