Felon’s sentencing postponed
San Martin – The sentencing of a Gilroy man convicted of five felonies and one misdemeanor was postponed Monday.
The defense attorney for Anthony Aguilera, 22, was unable to appear in court for the scheduled sentencing due to medical reasons, according to Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Kenneth Shapero.Â
The sentencing was rescheduled for 8:30am Jan. 16.
Aguilera was found guilty of two charges of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one charge of shooting into an occupied vehicle and one charge of reckless driving while fleeing police.
Compete in holiday decorating contest
Gilroy – The 2006 Holiday Home Decorating Contest judging is Dec. 20. Gather up the family and get creative with your own personal style and adorn your home for the holidays.

Winners will take home $100 for first place, $75 for second or $50 for third. Each year, as part of the contest, the Dispatch publishes a holiday lights map to help locals navigate their way to the best-decorated homes in the city.
Register now for Gavilan classes
Gilroy – New and continuing students can register for winter intersession and spring semester classes at Gavilan College. Thanks to a statewide fee reduction, classes are only $20 per unit.
Open registrations started Monday. There are three ways to register:
n Online at www.gavilan.edu, click on “OLGA” (OnLine Gavilan Access). Online registration operates Monday through Friday from 8am to 10pm. Fees can be paid online using Mastercard or VISA. For help using OLGA, call (408) 848-4733.
n By phone at 846-3729, Monday through Friday 9am to 10pm. Both checks and credit cards may be used for phone registration. Before calling, make sure you have your Social Security number or student ID number and section numbers for your classes.
n In person at the Gilroy Main Campus, the Hollister Briggs Building, or the Morgan Hill Community Center site. Hours vary by location. Call 848-4800.
Donate food to SV Disposal
Gilroy – South Valley Disposal & Recycling is holding a food drive Monday through Friday. Place nonperishable food items into bags clearly marked “Food Drive” (or plastic bags if raining) and leave the bags next to the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day. A truck will pick up the donation and deliver it to Second Harvest Food Bank.
GHS Choir presents winter concert
Gilroy – The GHS Choral Program will present the Winter Choir Concert Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm. Tickets cost $5 and are available at the door or in advance at the GHS Bookroom and at Porcella’s Music located at 7357 Monterey St. Proceeds benefit the choir transportation fund.

Get robotic with the future
Gilroy – Camp Peavy of the Homebrew Robotics Club will bring in robots and discuss careers in robotics for seventh and eighth graders.

SV Ballet presents the ‘Nutcracker’
Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill Dance Center (South Valley Ballet) will be performing the first full-length ballet of the Nutcracker, this side of San Jose.
