Christmas Mass, music from the Isle

Gilroy – A very Scottish Christmas Eve is in store at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Gilroy, as a midnight Mass will be celebrated with special music that includes bagpipes.

The Mass begins at 11pm Sunday. St. Stephen’s is located at 651 Broadway St. in Gilroy (corner of Wayland and Broadway streets).

New Year’s Eve ‘Bash’

Gilroy – Pedrizzetti Winery presents “Black & White New Year’s Eve Bash!” from 8pm to 12:30am, Sunday, Dec. 31. Wine Tasting, dancing with live music by the “Shrunken Heads,” hors d’oeuvres and champagne toast and countdown.

Attire: black and white, all black or all white, price is $35 for members, $40 for non-members.

Calling all St. Mary School alumni

Gilroy – This year, St. Mary School is celebrating its 135th year continuously educating the youth of the area. On Jan. 27, 2007 alumni are invited to return to the school for an “Invitation Only” Anniversary reunion.

The day begins with tours of the school and new Science Lab from 3 to 4:30pm. The annual Catholic Schools Week Liturgy will be celebrated in the church at 5pm.

Following Mass, the reception will be held in the gym until 7:30pm.

Festive new features at Bonfante

Gilroy – Last chance to see the Bonfante Gardens Holiday Lights, which features two new additions this year: a festive “Home for the Holidays” parade and special appearances by Snoopy, the lovable beagle from Peanuts comic strips.

Holiday Lights includes millions of dazzling lights around the park, an all-you-can-eat holiday feast, ice skating under the stars, holiday themed rides and visits with Santa.

The event concludes Saturday from 4 to 9pm. Tickets range from $22 to $40.

Free practice for the SAT

Gilroy – Princeton Review will provide free practice testing and a strategy session for high school students at the Gilroy Library (7387 Rosanna St.). Students must sign up at the library by Jan. 20. Test is 10am to 2pm Feb. 3 and results and strategy session is 10am to 2pm Feb. 10.
