Gilroy – The Elk’s Lodge presents “A Night at the Ritz” with The Mike Sloan Big Band. All members and their guests are encouraged to attend this event Saturday, Feb. 4. Cocktails at 6pm, dinner at 7pm and music and dancing starting at 8pm.

Most of the 600 or so arrangements in the band’s library are duplicates of the original charts recorded by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and many more of the great bands. Mike Sloan and many of the musicians in the band have played in some of the best known “big bands” around the country. Cost for the dinner and dancing is $35 per person.

Associates needed for Bonfante

Gilroy – Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park will be accepting applications and conducting on-site interviews for the 2006 season during the park’s annual job fair from 11am to 4pm Saturday. The job fair is open to both rehires and new applicants at least 15 years of age and older, looking for seasonal employment.

Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park will be hiring nearly 500 seasonal associates in a variety of departments including rides, food service, admissions, janitorial and merchandise. Interviews will be conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Applicants should enter through Bonfante Gardens’ front entrance and follow the signs to the Events Plaza.

Chamber’s Annual Dinner

Gilroy – The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual dinner at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club from 5:30 to 10:30pm Saturday.

Knights of Columbus Crab Feed

Gilroy – The Knights of Columbus Council 2469 will hold a crab feed at St. Mary’s Parish Hall Saturday, Feb. 18. Happy Hour is at 6pm followed by the feed at 7pm. Food will be prepared by chef Joe Peralta and local group “The Corvairs” will provide music for dancing.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Knights of Columbus scholarships and other activities. Tickets are $35 and are available at the Parish Office, 55 First St. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Bach to Blues tickets now on sale

Gilroy – Buy tickets now for the 2006 Bach to Blues concert at Gavilan College Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30pm. The concert is held each year to raise funds for music education at Gavilan College. Ticket Prices: VIP $30, general $15, senior $10, student $10.

Apply for special Coe Park Weekend

Morgan Hill – For one weekend, Henry W. Coe State Park will open the gate at Bells Station on Highway 152 to the little-traveled east side of the 87,000-acre park. Tickets for the event, scheduled for April 29 and 30, are by application only. Applications available by Jan. 18 at www.coepark.org. Forms available at Coe Park headquarters and the Gilroy library. Written requests for applications (include SASE) should be addressed to: Application Forms, Coe Backcountry Weekend, 1410 Terri Lynn Court, Gilroy, 95020.

The day-use fee for the event is $20 per vehicle, for either Saturday or Sunday. The fee for camping or backpacking Saturday night is $40 per vehicle. The fee for backpacking Friday and Saturday nights is $50 per vehicle.

Applications must be postmarked between Feb. 1 and 28.
