‘Soul Terrain’ auditions
Gilroy – The Gilroy Community Services Department and John Bisceglie Present auditions for “Soul Terrain.”
Motown meets the jungle in this all singing, all dancing wild revue. Auditions will be held today at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St. Ages 5 to 10 at 1pm, ages 11 to 14 at 2:30pm and ages 15 to 18 at 4pm.
Please prepare to sing a short song without music and wear comfortable clothing.

Bike for youth programs
Gilroy – The Bonfante Harvest Ride will return to Bonfante Gardens in Gilroy Saturday, and will offer 50K to 100K and 100-mile recreational rides for serious cyclists.
The ride attracts cyclists from all over the state and includes exhibits, a meal and swap meet at Bonfante Gardens base camp. Proceeds from the event benefit sports and recreational groups including sports programs at Gilroy high and Gilroy’s Parks and Recreation Department. Fees vary by distance and include discounted admission to Bonfante Gardens.

MySpace seminar
Gilroy – The public is invited to attend a free seminar staged by Mount Madonna School titled “Raising a Moral Child in the MySpace Era,” on Oct. 26 from 7 to 8pm in the Gilroy Library. Sarada Diffenbaugh, Mount Madonna principal and educator, will lead the discussion and talk about the key principles needed to raise an ethical child.

Exchange Club dinner
Gilroy – Harvest dinner and auction 6 to 10pm, Friday, at the IFDES Hall, Forest and Old Gilroy streets. The cost is $25 per person.

Annual Enchilada Fiesta
Gilroy – The Antonio Del Buono Violin program is holding their annual fundraiser dinner Oct. 27 from 4 to 7pm with a violin concert at 7pm. Tickets are $7 adults and $3 kids at the door. Silent Auction and Raffle also.

Time to take ACT exam
Gilroy – The registration deadline for students interested in taking the ACT college entrance exam is Nov. 3. Late registration for the Dec. 9 test, with an additional fee of $19, is Nov. 19. Registration fee is $29 for the basic test. An additional $14 is required for students who choose to take the ACT Writing Test. Free sample tests are available in counseling offices and on the ACT Web site.

Election officers needed
Gilroy – The Registrar of Voters is looking for civic-minded volunteers to serve at the polls on election day. Becoming a volunteer election officer is a great way for voters to serve their communities and contribute to the democratic process.
Election officers are paid a stipend of $85 or more. Volunteers are needed at polling places throughout Santa Clara County. Anyone who is registered to vote in California can be an election officer.

Sample ballots in the mail
Gilroy – Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters is mailing sample ballots for the Nov. 7 Gubernatorial General Election. The Sample ballot and voter information pamphlet contains instructions for voting and information about local candidates and measures, the voter’s assigned polling place location and an application for absentee voting. Sample ballots will be mailed to voters who register by Monday, Oct. 10. The last day to register to vote in the November election is Oct. 23.
