Effort to save Gav program
Gilroy – Parent Club members of Gavilan College’s Infant/Toddler program, are rallying to raise funds to save the program, which is slated to close in September due to budgetary reasons. The Infant/Toddler program is about $27,000 in the red.
With two months to generate money, the newly formed Parent Club is hoping to get the word out about its cause.
“We only have two months. I want people to know that we’re working on it,” said member Kim Sullivan. “The Parent Club is trying to raise money to keep the Infant/Toddler program operable.”
After receiving word last month that the program was in danger of closing, parents formed the club in order to persuade Gavilan officials that the program can be run on a combination of donations, grants and fundraising.
The first Parent Club meeting will be Friday.
