Singles seminar Saturday

Gilroy – All singles in the community invited to the singles seminar, ‘Body, Mind, Spirit’ from 9am to 3pm Saturday followed by a social hour. The event is hosted by South Valley Community Church Singles Ministry.

This seminar focuses on the wholistic needs of the single. Topics include; Health and Wellness, Finances, Healthy Dating, Communication, Healing from the Past and Moving Forward. Participants can choose from two morning topics and all will have two afternoon classes, all available on CDS. Continental breakfast and lunch are included in the $20 registration at the door. Walk in registrations welcome.

‘Soul Terrain’ auditions

Gilroy – The Gilroy Community Services Department and John Bisceglie Present auditions for “Soul Terrain.” Motown meets the jungle in this all singing, all dancing wild revue. Auditions will be held on Saturday, at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St. Ages 5 to 10 audition at 1pm, ages 11 to 14 at 2:30pm and ages 15 to 18 at 4pm. Please prepare to sing a short song without music and wear comfortable clothing.

Ride for youth programs

Gilroy – The Bonfante Harvest Ride will return to Bonfante Gardens in Gilroy Saturday, and will offer 50K-100K and 100 mile recreational rides for serious cyclists.

Proceeds from the event benefit sports and recreational groups including sports programs at Gilroy High and Gilroy’s Parks and Recreation Department. Fees for the ride vary by distance and include discounted admission to Bonfante Gardens.

Third Annual Enchilada Fiesta

Gilroy – The Antonio Del Buono Violin program is holding their annual fundraiser dinner Oct. 27 from 4 to 7pm with a violin concert at 7pm. Tickets are $7 adults and $3 kids at the door. Silent auction and raffle will be held as well.

It’s time for Halloween Run

Gilroy – The 15th annual Halloween Run co-sponsored by Gavilan Joggers and Striders and the Gilroy Recreation Dept. will be Saturday, Oct. 28. Registration is at 7:30am. Two races: 10k race is at 9am and 5k at 9:15am.

Fall Festival fun

San Martin – From 11am to 1pm Saturday about 50 Las Madres kids, up to age 5, will dress up in Halloween costumes and enjoy running around San Martin County Park, doing arts and crafts, picking out pumpkins and eating a potluck.

Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 9:30 to 11am at Gilroy Senior Center, there will be a costume party. About 20 Gilroy Las Madres kids, up to age 5, get dressed up in Halloween costumes and “entertain” the seniors. A craft project and snacks complete the fun.

State Conference for Association Homeowners

San Jose – A state conference for homeowners – “Democracy Begins at Home!” – will focus on new laws affecting the legal rights of Californians living in the state’s 41,000 community associations. The Center for California Homeowner Association law is convening the meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the San Jose Hyatt/Holiday Inn from 8am to 5pm. Registration fees are on a sliding scale and scholarships are available.
