Seventh-grader Maria Sanchez may decide elementary school
administration is just her cup to tea as she steps into Principal
Christa Hanson’s shoes today. Maria’s parents, Mark and Mary
Sanchez of Gilroy, purchased this fantasy day for her at St. Mary
School’s largest fundraiser, the Blue and White Auction.
Maria Sanchez will lead morning assembly, visit classrooms and
do some of the daily principal chores that include communicating
with the pastor and the diocesan offices in San Jose. She has asked
the students to wear their spirit shirts and a crazy tie or hat for
the day. Lunch at her favorite local restaurant with a few of her
classmates will cap off Maria’s day.
