BookDash home delivery service expands eligibility

BookDash, a home delivery service offered by the Santa Clara County Library District, is expanding its eligibility.

With the service, library materials are delivered to a patron’s front door. A library staff member will then arrange to pick up the library materials at the end of the borrowing period.

This free service is available to patrons of all ages who are unable to visit a library due to temporary or long-term illness, injury, impairment, medical condition or disability. This also includes the immunocompromised (including children), expectant mothers having difficult pregnancies, new mothers still recovering, and those without transportation.For information, visit sccld.org/bookdash or call 408.883.6959.

Book sale returns June 11

The Friends of Gilroy Library holds a book sale every second Saturday of the month from 10am-1pm at the library, 350 West Sixth St.

The next sale is June 11.

The Isabel Jewell Bookstore is open Monday through Friday from 1-3pm.

The store has many boxes of children’s fiction, as well as many books in Spanish. It is in need of teen fiction donations.  

Regular prices are 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks. Children’s books are 25 cents and 50 cents.

Car show returns downtown

The Garlic City Car Show returns June 18 from 10am to 4pm after a two-year pandemic-related hiatus.

More than 200 classic cars will line the streets of downtown Gilroy. This year’s show will also feature live music and vendors.

More than 10,000 guests typically attend the event, which is organized by the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce.

Grisedale earns degree at Benedictine College

Graham Grisedale of San Martin graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., earning a bachelor’s degree in Biology.

The college graduated 314 students at the end of the academic year during ceremonies on May 14. Founded in 1858, Benedictine College is a Catholic, Benedictine, residential, liberal arts college.

Lei named to Bucknell University dean’s list

Jonathan Lei of Gilroy was named to Bucknell University’s dean’s list for academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year. 

A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition.

Lei, a member of the Class of 2025, is studying Chemical Engineering.

Bucknell University, located in Lewisburg, Pa., was founded in 1846.
