Castaneda belts two-run home run in 12-10 victory over Radiator

GILROY – The Bay Area Communications Loco Boys moved to 4-0 atop the Men’s EE League standings Thursday with a 12-10 squeaker over Radiator Doctor at Gavilan Sports Park.
The win set up this week’s showdown between the Loco Boys and Courtesy Chevrolet, another 4-0 club. The teams meet Thursday at 6 :30 p.m. at Gavilan for sole ownership of the top spot in the six-team circuit.
Jimmy Castaneda anchored the Loco Boys offense with a two-run home run, triple and RBI-single. Nathan Mandrell provided three hits and Kyle Kretz scored three runs for the co-league leaders.
Radiator Doctor (2-2) received a solo home run from P.J. Cid and two singles apiece from Tiger Maquinalez and Johnny Andrade.
Rich Wist, Phil Ruiz and Freddie Barboza each homered in a 16-run third inning to highlight a 25-6 Courtesy Chevrolet win over the Good Ole Boys. Gilbert Cano stroked four Courtesy hits. Jeff Speno, Richard Braquet and Robie Kramer garnered extra-base hits for the Good Ole Boys.
Ryan Brindle went 2-for-4 and scored three runs as Solid Ground topped VFW Bingo 12-2. Gian Rossini drove in three Ground runs with two singles. Ray Morelos and Gabe Perez each mustered two hits and NIck Magee scored twice for VFW BIngo.
The Titans (4-0) maintained a one-game lead in the Men’s E League second-half pennant chase Thursday with a 20-15 nod over the Martini’s at Las Animas Park.
Vic Vanni, Ryan Romero and Vance Lee each secured three hits for the Titans. Vanni scored four runs, Lee three. The Martini’s responded with a 20-hit attack, keyed by three hits each from Raul Mancera, Stephen Jones, Fabian Cuevas and Manuel Rivera.
Blackout Window Tinting, the first-half EE champion, netted a 20-18 win over Team Heinzen. Jason Corral opened the scoring with a two-run home run for the WIndow. Frank Duran went 4-for-5 and Anthony Corral went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the winners. Manny Freitas went 4-for-5 with a home run and Chris Soto went 5-for-6 for Team Heinzen.
Claddagh’s Brew Crew earned a forfeit win over St. Mary Men’s Club.
