Rigby

Lucy, our 10-month-old terrier mix, and Rigby, our 12-week-old Lab/terrier mix, were named after songs by The Beatles.
My husband, Adam, and I adopted Lucy from the San Martin Animal Shelter in January. She was tiny and shaking, and seemed to sigh with relief when she was placed in my arms. As she put her head on my shoulder, it was as if she was saying “Finally! I was waiting for you guys to find me.”
Since then, she has been our constant companion. Whether it’s a short car ride for some lunch at First Street Coffee, a day at the beach in Carmel, or a family trip to Yosemite, she loves being active and meeting new people.
Lucy enjoys hiking at Mt. Madonna, and loves to run around Sunrise Park with us. When I’m tired, seeing her enthusiasm and sprit encourages me to keep running faster and farther.
I am currently working on my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, and am working with Lucy with the goal of using her as a therapy dog for clients. Next year, our goal is to get involved in “Furry Friends” so that Lucy can help people in our community.
Rigby was found all alone under a car when she was about 4 weeks old. She has found a permanent place in our home and our hearts from that time on.
Rigby is full of zest and love for life! She can turn anything into a toy, and any situation into a game. She is our clown and makes us laugh every day.
Rigby loves running at Sunrise Park, but loves stopping to sniff every blade of grass even more! She made friends while camping at Sunset Beach, and showed off for people in Carmel. Her trademark “Yoda ears” were on full display.
When she’s sleepy, she loves to snuggle, and makes the cutest little snoring noises. But as soon as she opens her eyes, she is ready to play! She loves her squeaky ball and wouldn’t mind if you threw it for hours.
Rigby is an absolute joy, and her passion for life is inspiring. She knows that life is meant to be enjoyed to the fullest, and reminds us every day.
