A man who has been known to harass residents of Burchell Road and the surrounding neighborhood was arrested Monday morning after ramming his truck into a woman’s car.

Police arrested Woong Joon Chon, 45, in the driveway of his residence on the 10000 block of Burchell Road on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, Sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Sung said.

“The investigation is about 90 percent wrapped up,” Sung said Monday afternoon. “This guy is well known to the neighborhood. Apparently he has done similar acts in the past.”

About 8:30 a.m. Monday, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a woman who reported that she had been struck by the suspect’s truck after he chased her down the street and blocked her vehicle with his, Sung said. The woman had the man’s license plate number and investigators traced the plate number to Chon’s address, he said.

Several Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the man’s residence and used a public address system to order him from his home, Sung said. When Chon emerged, deputies approached him and attempted to take him into custody. After a brief struggle, they were able to handcuff him and booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
