Mulhern’s column about giving Veterans’ Day due respect was good to read. The Armistice was signed at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, not on the Monday or Friday nearest thereto. It’s good to see this holiday has not been cheapened in such a way.

And Taylor’s closing paragraph about how so many of us “roll over like puppies wanting their bellies scratched when asked by ‘authorities’ to be model citizens.” That is exactly how Gilroy High School was run during my internment, when Linda Piceno was dean. A generation laterBob Bravo continues the tradition by quashing a student petition, making sure no sheep dares question authority.

Never would I have thought these columnists could come up with anything sensible, and they do so during the same week.

Hell has indeed frozen over.
