McDonald’s has awarded its highly distinguished Golden Arch Award to James and Stacey Henley, a father/daughter team operating 12 restaurants throughout the South Bay, including two in Morgan Hill.
The corporation bestows the Golden Arch Award to fewer than 1 percent of all owner and operators worldwide. The Henleys will receive their award at the McDonald’s Worldwide Convention in April.
The Golden Arch Award recognizes owners and operators who symbolize the highest in company standards in sales, operations, profitability, people and community service. The award recognizes relentless focus on customer service and significant community involvement.
“We are very honored and excited to receive the Golden Arch Award,” James said.
A native of Indiana, James became a McDonald’s owner and in Morgan Hill 1985.
During summers off from San Jose State University, Stacey assisted her father with bookkeeping and other operational responsibilities, learning the business from the inside out before joining the restaurant operations fulltime.
“At that time, I decided to leave school temporarily to join the family business,” she said. “I knew that I would go back to school eventually, but loved the operations and wanted to work alongside my dad. I loved it then and still do today.”
In 1994, Stacey became an approved McDonald’s owner or operator along side her dad. That same year, she finished her bachelor’s degree from San Jose State.
In addition to learning the operational ropes from her father, Stacey Henley learned the value of giving back to their community. James Henley is a long-time supporter of local schools, churches and other nonprofits, and his daughter learned from him. Their generosity of time, talent and finances has benefited numerous causes, from fighting cancer to raising money for multiple sclerosis research.
James Henley is also a mentor for many second generation owner/operators and new registered applicants. His commitment to helping others build their businesses has earned him many awards and accolades during his career as a McDonald’s owner/operator.
