A Morgan Hill man was arrested after police found drugs and stolen jewelry in his vehicle Friday, police said.
Ryan Walton, 22 of Morgan Hill, was driving a tan 1993 Toyota Camry when he was pulled over for traffic violations about 10:45 p.m. in Morgan Hill, Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.
Police thought Walton was acting as though he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and searched his vehicle. The search revealed about two grams of “tar heroin,” hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia, Neumayer said.
Also found in the vehicle were “numerous items” of stolen jewelry. After further investigation and contact with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, authorities connected the items to a June 16 burglary of a home on Chesbro Lake Drive, Neumayer said.
Police did not know why he was still carrying the stolen things in his vehicle days after the burglary. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property, being under the influence and possession of heroin.
Walton was initially pulled over with an expired vehicle tag and a malfunctioned brake light, Neumayer said.
