Injuries are not believed to be serious
A Britton Middle School student was hit by a vehicle in the crosswalk on Monterey Road at Central Avenue Monday morning, according to Morgan Hill police Special Operations Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.

The boy’s age and grade level were not immediately available.

Neumayer said the student was crossing in the crosswalk at around 8:45 a.m. to go to school and had made it to the median of Monterey Road. As he stepped off into the crosswalk in the southbound lanes of traffic, he didn’t see the traffic, and the driver of the vehicle that hit him did not see him, Neumayer said.

He was hit by a side mirror and a portion of the door, but was not seriously injured. He complained of leg pain, and his parents arrived at the scene and took him to see a doctor, Neumayer said.

More details were not available Monday morning, but there was no indication that the driver of the vehicle was cited or was driving under the influence.

Southbound Monterey Road was closed briefly while officers investigated the incident.
