No plans for downtown police beat

A motorcyclist crashed into a fire hydrant on the 8700 block of Monterey Road on Sunday afternoon, causing serious injuries to himself. 
The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old Gilroy resident, was found by officers at 12:50 p.m. and was determined to be suffering from major trauma. He was immediately airlifted to a trauma center, according to a press release from the Gilroy Police Department. 
It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the incident.
