Los Gatos – Bellarmine Prep took advantage of five Gilroy errors and seven walks Tuesday to score seven unearned runs and downed the Mustangs 9-1 in the Los Gatos Lions Tournament.
The defending Central Coast Section Division I champion Bells (3-0) scored five unearned runs in the second inning to break the game open. Bellarmine, which was 34-4 last year, scored two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Mustangs (2-2) got their only run in the third inning as Michael Stevens’ hit drove in Lukas Fortino. Gilroy had five hits in the game and struck out nine times.
