APTOS – Gilroy High’s varsity boys basketball team lost its first-round game against Pioneer 57-44 Thursday night at the 26th Annual Aptos Seascape Classic.
Going 4-for-19 from the free throw line limited the Mustangs” ability to come back when trailing 46-38 entering the fourth quarter.
Max Fishler led all Gilroy scorers with 14 points, and Elijah Harrell followed with 12.
The Mustangs will face off against league rival San Benito on Friday in the next round of the Seascape Classic in Aptos. Tip-off is at 3:30 p.m.
Gilroy will return to non-tournament action next Tuesday at Carmel at 7 p.m.
Gilroy is now 2-1 on the season.
