Volunteers needed for Gav committee
Volunteers are needed to serve on the Gavilan College Measure E Citizen’s Oversight Committee.
The committee needs two at-large representatives, a senior citizens’ representative and a representative from a taxpayers’ group. The committee also welcomes additional business organization members from Morgan Hill and Hollister.
The committee ensures that revenues from Measure E, a $108-million general obligation bond voters passed to fund Gavilan College facilities, are spent as promised. The committee’s role is to review and report on district spending of taxpayers’ money for construction and to provide a public accounting of the district’s compliance with legal requirements. The committee meets quarterly at the Gavilan campus in Gilroy. The meetings are open to the public.
