Police blotter: First-degree burglary, possession for sale

The Gilroy Police Department responded to a variety of crimes between March 20 through 27, including first-degree burglary, infliction of bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant and possession of a controlled substance for sale. The arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter.

Lights out at Christmas Hill Park

After night falls in Gilroy, it's dark along the entire paved pathway directly across the entrance of Christmas Hill Park and on the lighted softball field. The light fixtures are functional, but the connecting wires have been gutted by criminals.

Banding important for birds

The splendid red-tailed hawk was flying over the fields of Coyote Valley … with a band on. Early in February, the hawk was discovered along the side of Santa Teresa Boulevard unable to fly but with no apparent external injuries.
