Vandalism, burglary rampant this week
Gilroy Police responded to more tricks than treats this Halloween week, including a few burglaries and vandalism. Here are a few events:
VOLLEYBALL: CHS can clinch division title with win tonight
Christopher High volleyball defeated Alvarez 3-1 on Tuesday to hold its one-match lead over Monterey in the Monterey Bay League Pacific Division heading into tonight’s season finale against none other than the Toreadores.
Steven Smith Germond III November 5, 1951 – October 30, 2012
Steven Smith Germond III, lovingly known to many as “Big Steve”, passed away on 10/30 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. Steve is survived by his wife and best friend Gina, his step-sons Michael and Steven and his son Jason.
FIELD HOCKEY: GHS celebrates Senior Day with 10-0 win
Gilroy High field hockey held its Senior Day on Tuesday and promptly routed Leland 10-0.

Lars is a Labrador retriever/pit bull mix. He is sweet, playful, loves to run and knows commands. He has been at the San Martin Animal Shelter since early August and would love to find a forever home. POLO: Cougars upend Gilroy in MBL playoffs
Christopher High scored six goals in the second quarter and cruised to a 13-7 win Tuesday over Gilroy in the opening round of the Monterey Bay League Pacific Division Tournament at CHS.
Arraignment scheduled for man suspected in nonprofit embezzlement scheme
Jorge Briones, the former Morgan Hill Downtown Association executive director who is accused of embezzling funds from the nonprofit organization, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Dec. 21 at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill, according to authorities.

Georgia Kohler died peacefully at her home in Hollister, CA, early Monday morning surrounded by her family. She was born in Juneau, AK to parents, Herbert and Mabel H. and grew up in Washington State.
